Thommy Hutson, writer and producer of definitive genre docs such as Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy and Inside Story: Scream and producer of More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead and Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th, is excited to announce he is taking his journey down Elm Street a lot farther and in a whole new way.
Hutson has written a coffee table book detailing the original Wes Craven classic in a way no one has before. This over 200-page, hardcover tome is entitled Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy–The Making of Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and is the ultimate look at the scary, thrilling and groundbreaking 1984 film.
Through personal relationships and incredible access to many of the film’s cast and crew, the amazing story of how the movie was conceived, created and released truly comes alive.
Exclusive interviews with dozens of people who brought Elm Street to life (writer/director, producers, cast, cinematographer, effects artists, designers, stunt people and more) combined with hundreds of materials, including rare, never-before-seen photographs, storyboards, conceptual drawings, archival documents and more, complete this cleverly-crafted, comprehensive chronicle.
This book was a labor of love for Hutson, who spent two and a half years crafting it. The project is currently in its final stages of layout, and now Hutson is asking for some help in making the project a reality in time for the film’s 30th anniversary: He’s inviting Elm Street fans, genre fans and those who love seeing what goes on behind the curtain of making a movie to support the book. Information, details of the book, a sneak peek at some of the layouts and a video guest-starring Nancy Thompson herself, Heather Langenkamp, can all be found at the Kickstarter campaign page.
