Ep 149: Mom and Dad – WGT

Oh, boy. Boys and girl, it looks like Nick Cage is starting off 2018 at his most Cagiest. In his first horror film of 2018, Mr. Nicolas CooCoo Coppola dials his insanity meter up to eleven in Brian Taylor’s Mom and Dad. Buckle up, because this movie is non stop chaos from start to finish.

IMDB: A teenage girl and her little brother must survive a wild 24 hours during which a mass hysteria of unknown origins causes parents to turn violently on their own kids.

I think the point is to make us despair. To see ourselves as… animal and ugly. To make us reject the possibility that God could love us. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 149!

Ep 148: Inside (2017 Remake)

We’ve all heard the old saying, “in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Well, I’m here to tell you that’s only partially true. It seems there is a third certainty that had been omitted from the original quote, “It is certain, if you enjoy a movie, at some point someone will remake that movie.” Now is the time when one of my favorite movies gets reimagined, “for an American audience”.

In the late 2000’s an explosion of “French extreme” horror films was released. Martyrs and or High Tension can often be found on any number of lists of the “most fucked up horror movies ever”. Unfortunately, the vastly superior Inside is often forgotten (as well as Frontier(s), but that’s a whole ‘nother rant). Now, ten years after it’s initial release, Inside has been Americanized. Don’t worry, we watched it so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.

Ep 146: 2017 Year in Review – WGT

2017 is finally behind us and 2018 is already taking it’s toll. What kind of podcast would we be if we didn’t put our feelings about the passing year into list form? A pretty poor excuse for one; that’s what kind! Here it is, our thoughts and opinions on the horror films of 2017.
