Ep261: The Beyond – WGT

Blessed be, dumdums! We’re back again with another load of horror goodness for your ear…cavities. It should come as no surprise to anyone that I am a huge fan of the films of Lucio Fulci. Likewise, it should come as no surprise that neither Jorge, nor Rhett had seen a Fulci film. This fact makes me a sad panda. 

The time to rejoice is upon us, ye lil nerds! We’re remedying this grave injustice by showing the guys The Beyond. I know The Beyond may not be the best movie to introduce folks to Fulci, but damnit, if you’re gonna do it, do it right! (Review at 32:39) 

Did Jorge and Rhett enjoy the movie? Did they hate it like they hate everything else? Some of you are still out of work and have all the time in the world, while the rest are going back to work and now have a commute again. Point is, you have nothing but time and no reason NOT to listen!

I grew up during the 90’s in a very, how can I put this delicately, a household that is white as fuck. If there were two shows that all white people watched in the 90’s, those shows were Wings and Mad About You. (If you’re white and you say you didn’t watch these shows, you’re only lying to yourself.) 

Mad About You aired from the time I was ten until I was seventeen. Not only did young me think that this is exactly what being an adult would be like, but I fully believed in the love that Paul and Jaime shared and wanted to experience that kind of deep emotional love for myself. 

Did y’all know Helen Hunt is still alive and acting?! Are you aware that she did a horror film called I See You and it came out this past December?! Does it come as any kind of surprise, knowing what you now know, that I jumped at the chance to review a Helen Hunt movie?! (Review at 33:11)

In addition to our usual brand of fuckery, we try to free Sophia from Rhett’s cinematic… “conditioning”, we talk about life in lockdown, the movies we’ve seen etc. Look, you know how this works right now. Look, Stephen King personally tweeted that this movie was an excellent quarantine watch. We all know how hyperbolic that goof can be, so here we are. The only trusted name in horror. 😉

Ep258: The Witch: Subversion – WGT

Praise be unto King Sam for we have returned from the darkness and are bringing you into the light! Yes last week we took a much needed week off to recharge our batteries and are back bigger and better than ever! Yes, we recorded this episode before the break. Also, we are still recording remotely, and now we here.

I don’t know if you guys are aware, but South Korea is KILLING IT with their movies right now. I mean, they have the biggest musical artists right now. (Get on that B.T.S. hype train!) South Korea released a little film came out this month called The Witch: Subversion. Yeah, we’re doing that. (Review at 40:10)

Are there witches? Is it magic? Maybe it’s like a metaphor? You should definitely check it out. Not only that, we talk about Adventures in Babysitting, if farts could kill, old white bitches, and how we’re staving off the space madness!
