Ep307: Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon – WGT

What’s up, dorks? I apologize for the episode being late, it has been quite the week. Even now I am fresh out of surgery with blood trickling down my asscrack, doped up and trying to see straight. You know what they say, “The show must go on”.

Which is the mantra of one Leslie Vernon. Leslie is the star of tonight’s feature. He faked his death as a young boy, only to come back many years later to terrorize yours neighborhood. And who soever shall be found, without a V-card, getting down, must stand and face a mask so green or be crushed by an apple press machine. And though you’ll fight to stay alive, you still may need a surgeon; for no mere mortal can escape The Rise of Leslie Vernon.

The movie is Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, that’s the movie we’re doing. You know, in case it’s not obvious.

Ep306: Godzilla v Kong

Life, is fleeting. One day you’re alive and well, and the next, your ashes and being delicately sprinkled in a rose garden. And during this time, essentially all we want, is freedom. We want the freedom to give in to our primal instincts. We believe we have the freedom to go wherever and say whatever we want, but we can’t.

We drag our bodies to a job we hate, to work for a prick we can’t stand, to get money for the things we need to stay alive. All the while we ignore our mental health, our physical well-being, and our relationships. We’re spending our lives toiling away in the hopes that one day we can save enough money to pay for a few days of distraction of how shitty and futile our own existence is.

Maybe that’s what 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong is all about: the desire to break from from the prison that’s been created for you, breaking the literal and metaphorical chains that bind you and giving in to that most primal beast inside! Or maybe it’s just a stupid fuckin movie about an ape and a lizard fighting.

Ep305: Little Monsters (1989)

Aloha, mouth-breathers. For years, we’ve been toying with the idea of doing an episode focusing exclusively on non R-rated horror. It seems only appropriate that during monster month we would be covering a PG, “kid’s monster movie”.

For as long as humans have been sleeping in beds, children shudder at what monsters, demons, and all sorts of creepy crawlers might be lurking beneath. This week, we’re finding out what happens when those monsters son’t want to hurt you, they just want to party and piss in your apple juice.

That’s right! This week we’re talking 1989’s Little Monsters. Bruh, we’ve got Fred Savage and Howie Mandel just walking around smashing shit and creeping on underage girls. Do you want to see a child monster get their head ripped off and replaced with a pumpkin? We got you, fam.

Ep304: Q: The Winged Serpent – WGT

Greetings, you repugnant little bridge trolls. Monster month is chugging right along and this week, we’re covering a doozy! Looking back, I’m sure we can all remember going to the video store and every time we’d see the same movie. The box art was always interesting enough to draw in our attention, we pick up the slip cover and read the back and we’re putting it back on the shelf. Damn, bitch.

This week, we’re righting that wrong, and we’re bringing you nerds with us! We’re heading all the way back to 1982 to discuss the people-eating, flying, bird-dragon that is Q: The Winged Serpent. I fuckin know, right?! We’ve all seen it sitting there on the shelf, just waiting to blow our minds, but we were all too stupid to listen. You should be ashamed of yourselves, your stupid, stupid, little selves.

Ep303: Nightbreed – WGT

Well howdy there, ya slimy goofs. Look here. Covid restrictions are lifting across the U.S. and the world is slowly returning to normal. However, we’re not out of the woods yet, and in the name of precaution, we’re recording remotely this week. The good news is, since we’re all stuck in our homes, we’ve opened a link to a parallel dimension in which CHRIS IS BACK!

That’s right, turd nuggets, Chris is back! In order to celebrate we’re chilling in the 80’s again (kinda). Practical effects, cheesy one liners, monsters at every turn, and all the other things that make Chris giggle like a pre-teen getting their first kiss. We’ve been working on our night moves, so you know what that means, we’re discussiong 1990’s Nightbreed.

On a side note, the haomie Cal Gee has done some amazing art for this week’s episode. Go follow him on instagram.

Ep302: Humanoids From The Deep – WGT

Que paso, tonto? In 1999, gore-metal band GWAR released the song “Fishfuck”. The song is deeply profound and often considered to be a quintessential modern poem. On May 23, 2014 the composer said epic, Dave Brockie, passed away from a heroin overdose.

In remembrance of the seven year anniversary of Dave’s passing, we are doing the best (only?) movie we could find just BURSTING with fish fucking. Sadly no river carps will be shoved up any butts, as mentioned in Fishfuck, but it’s pretty darn close. Put some soy sauce on your sushi roll, we’re talking 1980’s Humanoids From The Deep.It doesn’t hurt to ask.

Ep301: March Madness: Best Horror Film of 2010’s Part 2 – WGT

Sup, nerds. At the time of this episode posting it is still March, and we’re mad as hell about it! If you’re living under a rock and missed episode 300 I’ll bring your simple brain up to speed. For episode 300 we’re putting the best films of the 2010’s head to head in a single elimination tournament! “Fuck yeah!” is right, buddy!

After extensive bickering, we’ve got the field down to a (thrilling?) thirty-two! Tune in this week and see who shall sit upon the throne of 2010’s horror supremacy, as decided by three complete morons.

Not everything that moves, breathes, and talks is alive.  It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 301!

Ep300: Best Film of the 2010’s

Spring salutations, you sanctimonious sacks of shit! Here we sit, almost eight years and 300 episodes into this little show, and we want to do something hella tight. So we did.

As horror fans, we all sit around and argue about what horror film we think is the best. With so much focus being wasted on the 80’s and 90’s, we want to pay tribute to the best RECENT horror films.

Yeah, obviously we do this masturbatory song and dance at the end of every year. Don’t be such a nay-sayer. Fuck, man! We’re doing something new and fun here. Do you really need to poo-poo on everything?

Well, despite you trying to ruin our fun, we’re here to make a ton of you goofs cry. We arbitrarily rating, ranking and critiquing all of your favorite films from the last ten years. Just, you know, don’t “at” us. Because we really don’t care. Suck it, nerds.

I said, “suck it, nerds”. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 300!

Ep299: Saint Maud

Salutations, suckers! The time is nigh! After waiting for nearly an entire year the holy spirit has blessed(?) us with the long awaited new release from A-24! We’re down on our knees, filling ourselves, not only with the love of the Lord, but with the bounty of Saint Maud. (Review at 25:55)

Being an A-24 release, many will say the film is bound to be “all style, and no substance”, or “overly long and kind boring”. Some people have been singing it’s praises from on high long before the film was actually released. Gather ’round, ye children. We’re here to part the seas of bullshit and tell you all about Saint Maud. After extensive research I can tell you, the film is less than 90 minutes long. Subvert. Expectations.

One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach; it’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 299!

Ep298: Wrong Turn 2003 & 2021

What’s good, ya slack-jawed mouth-breathers? Through our extensive research using test groups, and studying market trends we have determined you enjoy when we compare horror classics with their modern remakes. So yeah, we’re doing that. You’re welcome.

In 2003 we got Wrong Turn, a movie about idiot teenagers who get lost in the woods and then die at the hands of inbred cannibals. The movie would go on to spawn 1,621 straight to video sequels that no one cared about. This brings us to 2021, with a group of idiot teenagers, fresh off the cover of the brochure for Diversity University, being killed off one by one. (Review at 41:31)

My, oh my, how the times have changed. But, like have they, dude?
