EPISODE 424: STRANGE DARLING

There are surprises every year in the world of cinema, you never quite know what’s going to pan out and end up delivering the goods. A lot of things that sound good on paper end up being poor in execution, and vice versa.

There’s always the approach of relying on a filmmakers track record and having a reasonable amount of confidence in their next project, but even then there are disappointments and (usually) inevitable decline.

There’s the “brand loyalty” idea, where you stick with a franchise even though it starts SUCKING ASS, and in recent years no shortage of legacy sequels.

Every year also brings it’s share of unintentionally hilarious cinematic disasters. This year alone has brought us Megacockulus, Madame Web, Joker: Folie a Deux, Borderlands, Argylle, Tarot, Rebel Moon- Part Two, Imaginary, Night Swim, and The Exorcism, among others (add Kraven The Hunter to that list).

Then, there’s these films you barely hear shit about (or nothing about) until their release is imminent which pull a complete sneak attack and surprise the fuck out of you.

EPISODE 418: IN A VIOLENT NATURE

We have missed you. Got a bunch coming your way in the next couple weeks. This episode we get into the buzzy indie “ambient slasher”, In A Violent Nature. The movie has provoked a lot of discussion and mixed reactions within the horror community, but what did we think?

“They never found his body, but they say his spirit lives in the forest. This forest. A maniac, a thing no longer human. Every year he kills. Right now he’s out there. Watching. Waiting. So don’t look; he’ll see you. Don’t breathe; he’ll hear you. Don’t move; you’re dead!”

EPISODE 412: BLOODY MUSCLE BODY BUILIDER IN HELL

This episode King Hans, benevolent lord of our Patreon, has decreed we discuss BLOODY MUSCLE BODY BUILDER IN HELL, aka “Japanese Evil Dead.”

Originally filmed in 1995, this super low budget J horror eventually made it to DVD and theaters in Japan in 2014 before international release in 2017. It’s picked up quite a bit of steam in the years since as a cult classic. It’s currently available to stream on Shudder.

“We did as we were told and hacked him to pieces, didn’t we?! You think you can just run away? I told you you’re not going anywhere. I’m not gonna let that ugly bitch have you!” It’s the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 412!

EPISODE 411: LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL

Late Night With the Devil had great reception and strong word of mouth on the festival circuit late last year, so naturally all three of us were looking forward to it’s eventual release to a broader audience. Well, the special day has come and gone and now it’s finally time for us to share our thoughts about this indie horror which incorporates found footage and mockumentary elements.

Shoutout to mastermind Cal Gee for the original art as always. This time, the dude decided to take the controversial AI artwork from the film and draw it with his HUMAN HANDS.

“Welcome back. Ladies and gentlemen, before we continue, I’d like to apologize to anyone who may have been upset or offended by what you saw before the break.
It’s not every day that you see a demonic possession on live television.” It’s the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 411!
