Ep368: Halloween Ends – WGT

Review starts at 17:33

It’s time. We’ve got your messages, we’ve read your letters, and we have accepted the sacrifice of your first born child. Now is the time for you receive your reward. Here is our review of Halloween Ends!

Oo-de-lolly, folks! This is it. This is what we’ve been building to for 44 years! Through the ups and downs we have persevered as a fandom, and as a community, and now we gather together to witness the final showdown between good and evil. Or maybe we won’t. Maybe we’ll just bring on a new host. Then we can talk to them for over half of the show. Maybe then we’ll realize we need an ending and shoehorn a discussion about a film.

What was I talking about? Oh, right. Halloween Ends. I mean, if the writers and directors forgot they were doing a Halloween film, it’s not so bad if I forget too. Right?

Ep367: Hellraiser (2022) – WGT

Review starts at 8:55

Here we are smack dab in the middle of spooky season and we’re up to our asses in horror remakes. (Tune in next week for our review of Halloween: Ends) This week we’re rubbing the box of 2022’s Hellraiser remake/reimagining simply titled… Hellraiser.

We know, we hear you. “But Pinhead is a girl! Why are all movies woke now.” and to that we’ll say, shut the fuck up, stupid. We’re going to talk all about all the things and to be honest, Pinhead being a woman (although I’d argue they’re meant to be more androgynous like in the book) is the least of this films issues.

Ep366: Smile -WGT

Review starts at 11:15

Turn that frown, upside-down, idiots! Rejoice! For we have graced your unclean ears with yet another episode of the Who Goes There Podcast! This week we’re talking about the grossly over-promoted, 2022 film: Smile.

We’ve heard your shrill, nasally complaints. And while, by and large, we don’t give a shit, some valid points were made. We’ve made a slight tweak to the format of the show. A lot of the front-half jaw-flapping has been moved to Patreon.

While we fully understand that we produce gold on a weekly basis, some have complained the show has too much personal talk before the review. We understand this can be challenging for new listeners.

New episode will be shorter, with a greater focus on the review itself. The entire list of things we’ve watched and our personal banter will now exclusively be available to the fine folks at Patreon. Please bare with us as we fine-tune all this.

Tune in next week for our review on 2022’s Hellraiser!

Ep365: Barbarian – WGT

Review starts at 34:35

Que paso, ya lil crotch sniffers?! Usually in this lil blurb to say a little something about the film we’re reviewing. Whether it be a condescending remark, or a shower of praise, I usually at least allude to something that happens in the film. I’m not going to do that this time.

The 2022 film Barbarian is a film best gone into as blind as possible. If you have yet to see the film, I recommend watching it knowing as little about it as possible. Do not google a plot synopsis, do not watch a trailer, do not listen to this show until you watch the film. (You can totally download the episode now, you know, in case you forget to listen after watching the film.)

Tune in next week as we’ll be doing an episode on 2022’s Smile and try out a new, streamlined format for the show.

Ep364: The Burning – WGT

(Review Starts at 26:40)

It’s hard to believe the entire summer has already come and gone and we didn’t even make an attempt to go to summer camp! Well, quit sewing on your merit badges, Sally, we’re going into the wilderness!

Beware, bugs and animals aren’t the only things stalking these woods. There’s also Harvey Weinstein! Well, maybe not, but The Burning is the film responsible for launching the careers of not only Harvey Weinstein, but also Jason Alexander, Holly Hunter and Fisher Stevens!

Let’s just say, watching this film, in 2022, knowing what we know now, is a fuckin trip!

Ep363: Bodies, Bodies, Bodies – WGT

(Review starts at 54:00)

Look. Before you go and start commenting or trying to slide into our DMs, we get it. We know you have thoughts and opinions about Pete Davidson, but like, we don’t care. Yeah, sure, he’s scary looking, and most nights he haunts my dreams, but just keep it to yourself.

I mean, not like you would have the BALLS to comment, or go on apple podcasts, rate us five stars and tell us exactly what you think about Pete Davidson and his appearance in 2022’s Bodies Bodies Bodies. So I guess the point is moot, since you lack the ovarian fortitude. We’re gonna talk all about ole creepy Pete, as well as Bodies Bodies Bodies.  What are you gonna do about it, nerd?

Ep362: Jason X – WGT

(Review starts at 52:35)

Wow, what a wild ride! You know how we’ve been in space all month, right? We encountered this cryogenically frozen serial killer, and naturally we thawed his ass out. Needless to say, once a possibly supernatural, unstoppable killing machine, always a  possibly supernatural, unstoppable killing machine.

Anywho, the ship’s crew were murdered, we got thrown way off course, and it took us longer to get back to Earth. Which is why we missed a week. But we’re safe now, and we recorded our account of our encounter with this creature. We’re labeling this tape, Jason X.

We’ll be back next week with Bodies, Bodies, Bodies!

Ep361: Prey – WGT

Howdy there, ya slack-jawed dummies! Let’s be real with each other. When the rights to the Predator franchise were bought up by Disney, not many of us held out hope of ever seeing another installment.

Well, good news(?)! Disney made a new Predator movie, and it’s a prequel, with a female protagonist, and that makes for a lot of sad, lonely pandas. That’s right, idiots! Everyone’s favorite intergalactic prize fighter is back in 2022’s Prey, a film written and directed by the guy who directed 10 Cloverfield Lane. So, that’s pretty dope.

Ep359: Invasion of the Body Snatchers – WGT

Live long and prosper, dorks! Strap on your sun suits, and practice up on your moon walk. All month long, the Who Goes There Podcast is in spAaAaAaaaaaAAAAce! That’s right, you Klingon! For the entire month of August we’ll be covering a slate of films that have to do with space, aliens, and you know, space…aliens.

Any who, on to this week’s show. We (Matt) needed to review a film that WASN’T released within the last month so we decided to go with 1978’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers. If you’ve recently expressed concern over your podcasts not having enough mention of old men with hemorrhoids or prolapsed rectums, rest easy. We’ve got you.
