Ep376: 2022 Year in Review – WGT

Salutations, ya slack-jawed shit-slingers. The earth has once again traveled all the way around the sun, so you know what that mean! It means all of you idiots are going to make pointless resolutions that you’re never going to stick to, and you’re going to clog up the gym for a month before settling back into your crumb-covered couches. I have a home gym though, so clearly I’m superior and unaffected by your sloth-like nature.

In addition to that we’re reviewing our picks for the best and worst films of 2022. Huzzah! Halfway through 2022 we’d been discussing how the world of horror was severely lacking this year. Shortly after that all changed as our eyes were blessed with some real heavy hitters. So here it is, our best and worst of 2022. Do you agree with us? Is there something you love or hate that we missed? We don’t fuckin care. You can still “at” us. See how that works out for ya.

Ep375: Violent Night & Christmas Bloody Christmas (Santa Showdown!)

Happy holidays, ya filthy animals! Yeah, we’re a little late with your christmas gift, but while Santa only comes once a year, we’re busy filling boxes all year long! Ooooooooh! Get it? Any who. This year we got two killer Santa movies. So, being Christmas and what not, we’re gonna talk about um.

That’s right! This week we’re stuffing your stocking with not one, but TWO sadistic Santa slashers. First up, the big budget, Hellboy starring Violent Night followed by the low budget, grimy, killer robot Santa from VFW director Joe Begos.

Get nogged, bitch.

Ep374: Bones and All – WGT

Review starts and 19:50

Happy Sol Invictus, ya filthy animals! We decided to take a much needed week off to recharge and spend time with our loved ones. Now we’re back with some more stupid bullshit for you to listen to. This week’s film, well… IS A LOVE STORY, DOOOOOOOD! Or is it? Either way, we’re getting into Bones and All, warts and all.

If you haven’t seen the film already we highly recommend watching it before the review as we get pretty heavy into themes and spoilers. The movie is already available on streaming platforms and, as of posting, can still be seen in theaters.

Ep373: The Menu – WGT

Bonjour, morceau de toilette! Here at the Who Goes There we have quite the voracious appetite. Over the passed 10 years we’ve invited each other, and our listeners, to dine on: a dick, a bag of dicks, deez nuts, my entire ass, and in tonight’s episode, magic cookie bars. Hell, there’s even some Youtubers out there that “eat the menu”. Tonight, we discuss 2022’s The Menu.

That’s right, bucko! This week we’re serving up heaping portions of analysis, cynicism and normalized, heterosexual butt-fucking all over this new Anya Taylor-Joy piece. Is it a take down of the rich? Is it an in-depth look at creation vs consumption? Or is merely an excuse to watch Anya Taylor eat, while you tenderize your meat?

We’re smothered, covered, and sleeping with your mother. A 20% gratuity will be automatically added to the end of this episode to ensure the continued jackassery of our staff. If you would like to tip further please do so at Patreon.

Ep372: Jeepers Creepers: Reborn – WGT

Review starts at 20:37

Oooooooooooh weeeee! As a people we have been through some trying times over the last, well, forever really. But the past 15 years or so, have been especially trying. Well, I love to be the bearer of bad news, so guess what, there’s a new Jeepers Creepers movie!

Did you ever think to yourself, “man, I really wish Jeepers Creepers lowered the budget and became meta.”? Well, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn would like for you to hold their beer. I know what you’re thinking. “This is the first Jeepers Creepers film not associated with pedophile director Victor Salva, so it must be good.” You right… right? Right?

Ep371: VHS99 – WGT

(Review starts at 17:30)

Evenin’, bitches! Tonight we’re gonna talk shit like it’s 1999! That’s right, jerky-tits! The Who Goes There Podcast is once again time traveling back to the 1990’s! That means it’s time for an episode jam packed with JNCO jeans, Collective Soul songs, and your-mom jokes!

While some of that may be true, we’re definitely going to discuss four or five short films, crammed into a five pound sack if ya know what I mean. That’s right; it’s time to tackle 2022’s V/H/S/99.

I may not be a huge fan of anthology films, but V/H/S/99 reaffirmed the fact that I would much rather watch 5 20 minute films vs one two-hour film.

Ep370: Speak No Evil – WGT

Review starts at 19:36

Ahoy there, IDIOTS! Look, it’s not secret that as we get older it becomes harder and harder to make friends. Count yourself lucky if somehow the weight of the world hasn’t completely crushed your spirit by the time you’re thirty. What, with it’s bills, and responsibility, and literally everything sucking. If you’ve still somehow got some will to live in ya, you’ve probably shit out a few kids, making it damn near impossible to have any sort of meaningful connection with anyone not living under the same roof as you.

Enter the 2022 Dutch/Danish film Speak No Evil. A stark look at what exactly we’re willing to overlook in the name of friendship as a miserable, old, fuck. Also, have you ever seen the awesome 80’s film from 1991 called The People Under The Stairs? The writers of this film sure as shit have. Come, you listen.

Ep369: Terrifier 2 – WGT

Review starts at 23:20

Beep-beep! You knuckle dragging, nut huggers! By now you’ve all heard the hype surrounding 2022’s Terrifier 2. “People are puking and fainting in the theater!” “Not for the faint of heart.” “The most fucked-up movie you’ll see all year!”

Now hold on just a darn minute. Now I love my blood and gore just as much as the next red-blooded patriot. I also absolutely adore hyperbole and exaggeration. But you’re making some awful big claims there. You absolute crazy bastards, you.

Fear not, my little grease-painted goofballs! The Who Goes There Podcast is here for you, yet again. We’re sitting through the entirety of this TWO AND A HALF HOUR slasher flick to let you know if this big-top of blood-soaked brutality is worth the price of admission, or if you’re better off sticking to the cotton candy and ring toss.

Ep368: Halloween Ends – WGT

Review starts at 17:33

It’s time. We’ve got your messages, we’ve read your letters, and we have accepted the sacrifice of your first born child. Now is the time for you receive your reward. Here is our review of Halloween Ends!

Oo-de-lolly, folks! This is it. This is what we’ve been building to for 44 years! Through the ups and downs we have persevered as a fandom, and as a community, and now we gather together to witness the final showdown between good and evil. Or maybe we won’t. Maybe we’ll just bring on a new host. Then we can talk to them for over half of the show. Maybe then we’ll realize we need an ending and shoehorn a discussion about a film.

What was I talking about? Oh, right. Halloween Ends. I mean, if the writers and directors forgot they were doing a Halloween film, it’s not so bad if I forget too. Right?

Ep367: Hellraiser (2022) – WGT

Review starts at 8:55

Here we are smack dab in the middle of spooky season and we’re up to our asses in horror remakes. (Tune in next week for our review of Halloween: Ends) This week we’re rubbing the box of 2022’s Hellraiser remake/reimagining simply titled… Hellraiser.

We know, we hear you. “But Pinhead is a girl! Why are all movies woke now.” and to that we’ll say, shut the fuck up, stupid. We’re going to talk all about all the things and to be honest, Pinhead being a woman (although I’d argue they’re meant to be more androgynous like in the book) is the least of this films issues.
