Ep248: The Faculty – WGT

Hey there, dummies. This week we decided we wanted to do a little something different. In an attempt to avoid falling into a downward spiral of sad January box office releases we are doing something a bit older. We’re gonna go back in time! That’s right, Slappy! Good ole’ Jorge is picking this week’s movie, and you know what that means, baggy pants, terrible hair, and the best god damned soundtrack imaginable!

Join us, all the way back in 1998. It was a more simple time when Elijah Wood was just a baby, it was acceptable to put Harry Knowles in your movie, and relationship abuse was all the rage. That’s right, we watched The Faculty (Review at 34:48). Dust off your favorite 311 shirt, bust out that chain wallet and puka shell necklace, this shit is gonna be tight.

Ep247: Color Out Of Space

Hey, everyone, Chris is back! Huzzah! We have missed our dear friend and former cohost so much, we knew that we had to make this episode a special one. Seeing as how Chris wasn’t able to join in on the last few crazy ass Nick Cage movies, we opted to do Color Out of Space. (Review starts at 51:15)

For real, this episode is the jam! We all had an absolute blast recording it. Not only is Chris doing impressions again, but Nick Cage also screams about alpacas while doing a Trump accent. I don’t know what else to tell you except that this is the most fun I’ve had on the show in a while. So spark up a doobie, grab your golden lady and get ready for a wild fuckin ride!

Ep246: Pig – WGT

In 2010, Dread Central and a few other horror sites joined together to stream Pig, the new movie from director Adam Mason. The film was only streamed for a limited time, and if you missed it, too bad. Pig was never officially released, and despite a few over-priced bootlegs popping up at conventions, Pig had essentially vanished. Vanished that is, until 2017.

In 2017 director Adam Mason announced that Pig would screen at SXSW for two nights, and then never again; this would be the only public screening of the film. When asked why the film was never released Adam Mason has said everything from he hates the film, to wanting to create that “holy grail” film. You know, the kind of film you only hear about, but can’t find, but your friend’s brother’s classmate’s uncle “totally has a copy”. The important thing is, Mason was always willing to talk about the film, and if asked nicely, would reportedly send you a link. Well, that’s what we did, motherfuckers!

That’s right, we watched what is arguably one of the hardest to find horror films ever, and we’re gonna tell you all about it! (Review at 25:55) We’re trying to reach out to Mason to see if we can make the film available for a limited time, thus far we have had no response.

Ep245: Underwater – WGT

Grab your bathing suits and towels, we’re going swimming! It may only be January, and half of the country is covered in snow but don’t let that stop you! Just call us Sebastian because this week we’re going under the sea with 2020’s Underwater! (Review at 34:11)

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I really wish they would make a Cloverfield movie, but under water, and take every chance possible to put Kristen Stewart in he underwear.”? Well, ready your lil nerd, you little nerds, because this is the movie for you! Underwater has all of the explosion laced, debris filled, screeching, screaming chaos of a Cloverfield film, but is it one? More importantly, is it good? Most importantly: does TJ Miller fuckin die?! We’ll answer all of these questions and more this week on the Who Goes There Podcast!

Ep244: The Grudge 2020

Generally, when the horror community hears the word “remake” we all collectively groan and roll our eyes. More often than not, the remake fails to capture what audiences loved about the source material. Every so often, a remake will come along that not only pays homage to an already great film, it carves out it’s own place in cinema history. As of 2020, no one will say that about The Grudge. (Review starts at 24:08)

Maybe I’m just pulling your leg. Perhaps this un-promoted, January release, produced by Sam fuckin’ Raimi is an early contender for film of the year. Maybe this is the first time I’ve seen Lynn Shea in a ghost movie. C’mon. We all know why you’re here.

THE GRUDGE Snags Horrific F Cinemascore 1024x502 - Who Goes There Podcast: Ep244 - THE GRUDGE 2020

When I sleep my spirit slips away from my body and dances naked with The Devil. That’s why we have the Who Goes There Podcast episode 244!

Ep243: Best and Worst of 2019

We here at the Who Goes There Podcast have spent countless hours researching exactly what is the key to podcasting superstardom. Through our tireless research we have come to the realization that the internet likes lists. It doesn’t matter what kind of list, so long as things are put in a descending or ascending order.

Well, folks, we’re nothing if not hip, and with it; we are also very opinionated. With that being said, here is our list of the best and worst films of 2019. I would add the disclaimer that “these are what WE think the best films of the year are”. It’s nice to know I don’t have to do that because we all know that what we think, is correct. Always.

Ep242: Depraved – WGT

I pride myself on my depravity. In fact, when starting this podcast my goal was to introduce people to the most depraved, fucked up movies I could find. Well, times have changed, and while we may not be covering as many totally disturbing movies, we still love all things morbid.

As luck would have it, horror legend Larry Fessenden is keeping my hopes alive by releasing a little film called Depraved. (Review at 37:49) Good ole’ Larry is serving up his modern take on the horror classic Frankenstein. Is Depraved as impactful as its source material? Is it actually depraved? Perhaps it’s nothing more than a misunderstood film that only wants to be loved? We’ll fuckin tell ya what it is! But, you’ve got to download to find out!

Laugh it up, wise guy. It won’t be so funny when that little bastard shoves a laser up your ass. At least not as funny as the Who Goes There Podcast episode 242!

Ep241: Black Christmas 2019 – WGT

Despite being in my late thirties, not having any children, and living in a place that has never seen snow, I still love Christmas! I just love all the twinkling lights, the endless supply of baked goods, and the feeling of togetherness just warms my cold black heart.

In the spirit of togetherness, it appears the entire horror community has come together to shit all over the 2019 remake of Black Christmas. We may be fashionably late to the party, but we’re shimmying down your chimney with a big red sack full of thoughts and opinions! (Review starts at 24:24)

Sure, it’s sitting there under the tree, hastily wrapped, and falling apart at the seams, but despite the wrapping, this could be the best gift ever. It could also be a lump of coal, that Santa shat on, after eating a bag of sugar free candy. Guess there’s only one way to find out, huh?

Don’t put avocado on the burger! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 241!

Ep240: Daniel Isn’t Real – WGT

As children our imagination knows no bounds. Some of us create wild stories for our toys to act out, some of us turn to drawing and art to express our creativity, and some of us have imaginary friends. Sometimes an imaginary friend is nothing more than a manifestation of our desires to connect with other people, an attempt to fight against loneliness. However, sometimes that imaginary friend is a troublesome menace who wants to hurt people and act out his perverse desires with our mothers. Ok, that’s enough about Drop Dead Fred, this week we’re talking about Daniel Isn’t Real, the brand new release from Spectrevision. (Review at 45:01)

Alia is back, and we’ve got a pretty front heavy episode! We run down a LOT of movies we’ve seen over the last week, we talk about a handful of new trailers and some awesome news for Resident Evil fans! You’ve done a lot for other people this holiday season. Do something nice for yourself. Curl up in front of the fire and listen to four idiots stroke their own…opinions.

They thought they could do it without being caught. But when we do something naughty, we are always caught. Then, we are punished. Punishment is absolute, punishment is good. So is the Who Goes There Podcast episode 240!

Ep239: Deadly Games – WGT

Ladies and germs, Christmas has come early! The wonderful people of France teamed up with the folks over at Shudder to bring us an amazing gift that we didn’t know we wanted! Have you ever been watching Home Alone and thought to yourself, “yeah, it’s good, but it could definitely be more French, and where are all the mullets”?

Buckle. The. Fuck. Up. This week we’re fuckin blessed to be covering 1982’s Deadly Games (a.k.a. Game Over, Hide and Freak, 3615 Code Pere Noel, Dial Code Santa Claus etc). (Review at 21:27) Guys, for real, this movie is fuckin bonkers! Just look at the photo below. I’ve seen the movie and even I have no idea what is going on right there. It’s so god damn zany that for many years, the entirety of the United States was like, “that’s a nah from me, dawg” and the movie wasn’t available here until 2018! I know I don’t say this much, but seriously, go watch this movie before listening to the show!

We know some of you won’t be happy no matter how hard we try. In an attempt to win you over, we’re also letting you know a really stupid way you can spend $6500. Rhett tries to talk about Frozen 2 way too many times for it to be a joke. Jorge hates everything,

We’re trapped in closet on Christmas with Santa trying to murder us. How fucked up is that? At least we have the Who Goes There Podcast episode 239!
