Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain Gets Teaser

thestraindemonIn more (non dick punching) Guillermo Del Toro news, FX has released the first teaser trailer for The Strain, a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself. Expected this summer, though no official release date has been announced.

Guillermo Del Toro’s The Book of Life Art Book Announced

the-art-of-the-book-of-lifeJorge and I have had some VERY heated discussions about Guillermo Del Toro films (mainly how Pan’s Labyrinth can go get punched in the dick), but we’re both stoked because Dark Horse Comics, in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products: announced an upcoming project based on this year’s highly anticipated film from Fox Animation Studios, the Del Toro produced, The Book of Life. The film is directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez, and follows a love story set during a Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico.

In September 2014, Dark Horse will release The Art of The Book of Life, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. Continue reading

Leprechaun Origins Poster Revealed

LeprechaunLast night (despite my warning on WWE associated horror films) Jorge wasted his money watching Oculus. In the spirit of silly ideas from the world of wrasslin’, the WWE recently revealed a new promo poster (left) for Leprechaun: Origins, staring everyone’s favorite Irish stereotype, Hornswaggle (Dylan Postl) as the title character.

Anyone else think we need an Ultimate Warrior horror movie, where a demonic warrior snorts a ton of coke and explodes people’s heads, with mind bullets? Just me?

Eli Roth’s Green Inferno Releases Teaser

Due out September 5 The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who from New York City travel to the Amazon to protect a dying tribe, but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they saved. Continue reading

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth To Feature Interactive Music

the_binding_of_isaacIf you’ve listened to our show at all, you know we’re huge fan’s of The Binding Of Isaac! (Check out episode 18 of our podcast, featuring TBoI creator Edmund McMillen, here) In a recent blog post on his site, Edmund McMillen revealed that the music in the upcoming rogue-like game The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth will actually change based upon the items that the character picks up.

McMillen writes, “…the cool thing about the music in [R]ebirth is there will be a few items that warm how things sound… and a lot of the tracks sound amazing when they are slowed down or sped up

This was a response to a writer telling McMillen that a new track, “Duress” (in comments), sounded extremely sinister when played backwards. Continue reading

The Quiet Ones Release New Footage in Third and Final Trailer

thequietonesLionsgate has released a third and final trailer for The Quiet Ones that finally shares brand new footage. The new trailer is set against a nursery rhyme as Olivia Cooke’s character is experimented on.

Inspired by true events, The Quiet Ones is directed by John Pogue and stars Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne, and “Bates Motel’s” Olivia Cooke. Look for it on April 25th. Continue reading

NECA To Release 30th Anniversary Ultimate Freddy Figure

a-nightmare-on-elm-street-3-dream-warriors1NECA was on hand last night in New York City at the Alamo Drafthouse’s special screening of Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The film, which starred Robert Englund as a spectral child murderer, will have its 30th anniversary this coming November.

NECA is recognizing the landmark with a very special 30th Anniversary “Ultimate Freddy Krueger” figure, which will stand 7″ tall and come rocking a new head sculpt, two alternate heads, the ‘tongue phone’, as well as Tina’s skinned face!

Pumpkinhead and Pumpkinhead 2 Bloodwings Coming To Blu-ray!

pumpkinhead1Good news for 80′s horror fans, Stan Winston aficionados and the Lance Henriksen devoted. Scream Factory will be issuing Pumpkinhead and Pumpkinhead II: Bloodwings on Blu-ray.

Per the studio, “Pumpkinhead will be a ‘Collector’s Edition’ (in fact, artwork is just about done) and Pumpkinhead II will be a separate release. No further details at this time but we’ll keep you posted on developments during our ‘Summer of Fear.’

Insidious 3 To Be More Like The First

InsidiousLeigh Whannell, who, penned both Insidious films, and also starred in both as “Specs”, one half of the ghost hunting duo, hit Twitter with a brief update on the sequel.
