The Stanley Film Festival Returns This April

the-shining-movie-dog-suit-mask-sexSet at the notoriously haunted and historic Stanley Hotel, inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining, the Stanley Film Festival (SFF) showcases the best in classic and contemporary horror cinema in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado.

Produced by the Denver Film Society, the festival is dedicated to crafting a more interactive experience for genre filmmakers and fans.

Idiot Teacher Convicted of Felonies For Showing ABC’s of Death

1204689_ABCs-of-Death-1A former Columbus City Schools substitute teacher was convicted this morning of four felony counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, reports The Columbus Dispatch.

The madness began when a substitute teacher showed Drafthouse Films and Magnet Releasing’s The ABCs of Death to several Spanish classes at East High School in Columbus, Ohio. She claims she did not watch the movie prior to showing the classes, and thought the film was in Spanish. The best part is: she claims she had her back turned each time she showed the film, and was unaware of what was on the screen. I hope she actually got convicted of being a fuckin idiot. Surprise Surprise, The Ring To Get Reboot

ring_7It seems like the only news I’m posting right now is about remakes, reboots and re-imaginings, and this post will be no different.

TheWrap is reporting that casting is underway on Rings, which is the latest installment in The Ring franchise.

“Rings” is also the name of the short – directed by TCM 2 and TMNTs’ Jonathan Liebesman – that accompanied the purchase of The Ring 2 on home video in 2005. Continue reading

Hannibal Season 3 Pushed Back To Summer

Gremlins Reboot Dead in the Water

o-GREMLINS-facebookTwo years after it was revealed that Seth Grahame-Smith and producing partner David Katzenberg were developing a remake to Joe Dante’s classic Gremlins, it sounds as if the project is officially dead.

Poltergeist Remake Is Totally Going To Suck

We’ve already heard it’s going to be “more adventure than paranormal”, and now cast members continue to reveals small details from the reboot helmed by Gil Kenan.

Promos Released For A&E’s Bates Motel, The Returned

BatesMotel_031413_1600A&E released new promos for the premiere season of The Returned, as well as the third season of Bates Motel, both of which begin on March 9, 2015.

“Bates Motel” is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho, and gives viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Series stars Vera Farmiga in her Emmy-nominated role as Norma Bates and Freddie Highmore as Norman. Continue reading

Escape From New York Reboot Back On

After years in development and a trip to turnaround, Fox has emerged from competitive bidding and closed a deal to remake the 1981 John Carpenter-directed cult classic Escape From New York, Deadline was the first to report.

Carpenter will be an executive producer and will exert creative influence over the project. Continue reading

Amazing Minimalist Horror Movie Posters

The-Shining-730x1128Artist Tommy St. James has created 10 minimalist posters that promote horror films using iconic props contained within. No words, no titles, no catchphrases, just images. The end result are fantastic posters that demand you take a second to think, recalling the film and the scene from which the props are taken. It’s a great way to pay homage to the films without giving away the answer right away.
