Ep 124: August Underground – WGT

When we first started this show, Matt had intended for the show to be a platform to introduce people to the really depraved horror films they had most likely never heard of. While we may have shifted the focus of the show to a slightly more digestible format, Matt  and our pal Danny are constantly trying to sneak one of these films into the Who Goes There review schedule; this is one of those episodes.

Be forewarned, some of you delicate types may be “triggered” by some of the content of this week’s discussion. This film is obscenity in a nutshell. This little piece of cinema has enough nudity, blood, guts, fecal material, assault, abuse, and murder to make almost anyone feel like they need a scalding hot shower. Is this film a despicable piece of trash that should never see the light of day? Or is it possible that this blood soaked 71 minutes could be an important piece of horror history? This, is August Underground.

Dolph Lundgren plays a grizzled demon hunter who, through a string of bizarre murders, tracks an ancient demon to a sleepy mountain town. The Swedish Dong Hammer then proceeds to fuck everything warm and wet, all while carrying a big ass net. Yeah, buddy.

Ep 115: We Are The Flesh – WGT

Guys, I’m kind of worried that we may be…maturing. For the last four weeks we’ve had very serious conversations about very serious movies, and this week the movie is in Spanish. What the actual fuck?

In a last minute decision, (maybe we’re not maturing after all) we chose to do the 2016, Shudder exclusive We Are The Flesh. Without giving too much away, we had no idea that we were in for an unnerving, hyper sexual, mind fuck of a journey.

In addition to, whatever this film was, we talk about bloodshed at the ballpark, nightmares of the minuscule variety, penises, vaginas, and all that kinda thing.

Ep 114: A Dark Song – WGT

We’ve really been hitting it out of the park lately with our live Facebook broadcasts, haven’t we? On a brighter note, at least the podcast itself is still top shelf entertainment.

Before doing this episode I hadn’t heard anything about 2016’s Irish incarnation flick A Dark Song; no trailers, no reviews, nothing. Now people are talking about A Dark Song being among the best films of 2017. What?!

“A grieving woman seeks the aid of an occultist in preparing for an ancient ritual.” That is all the plot synopsis says. Best movie of the year? We’ll see about that!
