Classic Episode: The Mist – WGT

This passed Tuesday my wife and occasional co-host Alia was in a very bad motorcycle accident and sustained some major injuries. In addition to some severe road rash Alia’s jaw was broken in two places and she broke a few teeth. Needless to say we were unable to record a new episode this week.

Rather than not release anything we decided to post one of our favorite episodes from the past. A Who Goes There classic, if you will. We’ll be back on schedule this Friday with our Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark episode. If you would like to contribute to the GoFundMe page to help cover Alia’s medical and dental bills, you can contribute here.

We appreciate all of the support we’ve gotten from all of you. We have a long road ahead of us, it’s nice knowing we don’t have to go alone. Thank you.

I’m not going to post a silly quote from a movie this week. I’m just going to use this space to once again say thank you. So, thank you.

Ep218: Child’s Play – WGT

Alright everyone, let’s be honest with ourselves here for just a second. Most of us hate the fact that a good amount of the “new” movies released every year, are remakes. Furthermore, most of us are really stoked that the majority of these remakes are hot garbage. Even further still, most of us took to the internet with a fervent anger when we heard that a Child’s Play reboot was in the works.

Yes. A lot of the anger came from the sensitive group of “qUiT rApInG mY cHildHoOd, LeAvE mY fAvOrItE mOvIe AlOnE!” fanboys we’ve learned to expect and ignore. However, the new Child’s Play remake is a different beast entirely. This particular remake is being made with a reimagined antagonist, without the now iconic voice of Chucky (Brad Dourif), and is being made at the same time as a Child’s Play TV show that DOES have OG Chucky, voiced by Brad Dourif! Wowie Zowie!

Fear not, lil’ dorks! Your buddies at the Who Goes There Podcast are hear to open up 2019’s Child’s Play to “see what we’re working with.” (Review starts at 25:44)

I’ve got a few heartbeats I’d like to save, thank you very much. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 218!

Ep214: Brightburn – WGT

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… finally the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I don’t know about you, but I have had it up to my tits with all of the superhero movies being shoved down our throats. For the last twelve years almost every film has been: weak villain attacks, fly, punch, celebrate, repeat. However, unlike zombies, the superhero genre has several ways of keeping itself feel fresh and interesting.

You may be asking yourself, “but how can superhero movies keep from feeling stale?”. To which I reply, “calm down, I’ll tell you! Have you learned nothing of how this works?” Superhero films can stay relevant by changing up the formula on occasion. For example they can make the super being a child, or make it a villain story, or in the case of Brightburn, you can do both! (Review starts at 21:30)

If that wasn’t enough to tickle your pickle, we also discuss our advance directives and how easily Alia could murder Matt. Rhett forgets this is a horror show again, Alia tries to relate everything to getting freaky, Jorge can’t even, it’s just another day at the Who Goes There Podcast.

Look to la luna; it’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 214!

Ep 145: Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale – WGT

Ho ho ho, haomies! Christmas is finally upon us, and what do you know; we’re doing another Christmas horror film! Back in the winter of 2013 we recorded an episode on 2010’s Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. In true Who Goes There fashion we got way too drunk and the episode was scrapped. Fast forward to the present and we’re trying it all over again!

We know you’ve been agonizing over when you can get your latest WGT fix. Truth be told, we wanted to swoop in and save Christmas once the high of opening presents was gone.

Why isn’t anybody doing anything to get me out of here? It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 145!

The holiday season is upon us, and you know what that means: Christmas themed horror movies! Fear not, children. This is the only Christmas movie we’ll be covering this year, and it’s a doozy!

We’ve been hearing about Better Watch Out (aka Safe Neighborhood) for quite a while now. How can you not be excited for a movie that’s being called “a horror Home Alone”? Ep 139: Stranger Things Season 2

Rejoice, fellow nerds! The time has finally come to travel back to Hawkins,to hang out with Dustin, Hopper, Eleven and the rest of the gang, for Stranger Things Season 2.

Fair warning, if you have not yet seen the second season, we will go deep into spoiler territory. Did the second season live up to the hype? Does Nancy make a pouty face like a petulant child every time she’s on screen? Does Hopper make panties moist and nipples hard, simply by uttering two words? Do we pick on Matt until he throws a hissy fit? Tune in to find out!

And when the sun went down… there was an eery, ghostly appearance to this town. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 139!

Ep 138: Eden Lake – WGT

Australia has been cranking out some great horror films in the last decade, and it should come as no surprise. It makes sense that those wacky Aussies would know good horror; after all, the live in a country where every single thing, living or not, wants to kill you.

This week we’re throwing shrimp on the barbie, lookin up your bum, and other stereotypical things as we discuss 2008’s Eden Lake. This was an audio only episode, so needless to say, things get a little goofy.

You always take a leak with a gun in your hand? That’s a good way to blow your balls off! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 138!

Mini Episode: Telluride Horror Show 2017 – WGT

For the last eight years, darkness has descended on the quiet mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: “The second weekend of October is my favorite weekend of the year.” This is the weekend of the Telluride Horror Show! Set against a gorgeous backdrop of tree lined, snow covered mountain tops, the Telluride Horror Show has quickly cemented itself as one of the countries best horror film festivals.

Alia and I were once again lucky enough to be invited to join in the festivities, and this years event was even better than the last! Unfortunately we forgot a very important piece of recording equipment back in San Diego, and we had to make the best of what we had. Fair warning, the audio quality is fine, just not up to the normal Who Goes There Podcast standards. Join us, as we recap the films we saw, those we loved, one we didn’t, and declare our without-a-doubt “best of show.”

Ep 136: Baskin – WGT

The 2017 Telluride Horror Show has come and gone. Now, there is an emptiness inside my soul that won’t be filled for another year. Unfortunately, we can’t discuss any of the films from this years festivities yet, since none have been released. Instead we’ll be taking a trip back to 2015 to discuss “Sunday’s Super Secret Matinee”: Baskin.

For a more in depth review of the 2017 Telluride Horror Show check out the episode that we’ll be posting momentarily. That’s right, you lucky ducks! Two episodes of the Who Goes There Podcast on the same day!

Don’t you see that killing me is not going to bring back your apples? How ya like ‘dem apples?! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 136!
