Mini Episode: Telluride Horror Show 2017 – WGT

For the last eight years, darkness has descended on the quiet mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: “The second weekend of October is my favorite weekend of the year.” This is the weekend of the Telluride Horror Show! Set against a gorgeous backdrop of tree lined, snow covered mountain tops, the Telluride Horror Show has quickly cemented itself as one of the countries best horror film festivals.

Alia and I were once again lucky enough to be invited to join in the festivities, and this years event was even better than the last! Unfortunately we forgot a very important piece of recording equipment back in San Diego, and we had to make the best of what we had. Fair warning, the audio quality is fine, just not up to the normal Who Goes There Podcast standards. Join us, as we recap the films we saw, those we loved, one we didn’t, and declare our without-a-doubt “best of show.”

Ep 136: Baskin – WGT

The 2017 Telluride Horror Show has come and gone. Now, there is an emptiness inside my soul that won’t be filled for another year. Unfortunately, we can’t discuss any of the films from this years festivities yet, since none have been released. Instead we’ll be taking a trip back to 2015 to discuss “Sunday’s Super Secret Matinee”: Baskin.

For a more in depth review of the 2017 Telluride Horror Show check out the episode that we’ll be posting momentarily. That’s right, you lucky ducks! Two episodes of the Who Goes There Podcast on the same day!

Don’t you see that killing me is not going to bring back your apples? How ya like ‘dem apples?! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 136!

Ep 135: RAW – WGT

October is finally upon us, and it’s my favorite time of the year; time for the Telluride Horror Show! A weekend jam packed full of horror films, awesome people, beautiful landscapes and strong drinks. It seems only fitting that while I spend 12 hours a day in a movie theater, we take a look back at the film that was the “super secret matinee” at last years Telluride Horror Show. Vegetarians rejoice, this week we’re discussing the vegetarian-cannibal, coming-of-age story: RAW.

Be forewarned, this is one of those, “it’s so disturbing people had to get medical attention during the screening” type movies. Do with that what you will, I have a few hours to try to sleep before the next movie.

Ep 134: Funny Games – WGT

In the four years we have been doing this show we have only had a handful of episodes that were so disastrous, they needed to be locked away, never to see the light of day. On even more rare occasions, we re-record said episode for all of you fine folks. This, is one of those episodes.

You know that old saying, “it’s the quiet ones you need to watch out for”? Well that goes for the shit show episode, AND this week’s movie, the overly polite, home invasion thriller Funny Games! We’ll also get some thoughts on Cult of Chucky, the new, insanely difficult game: Cuphead and someone wants to shave the Swedish guy. Oh boy.

If you want to actually hear why we decided the first recording should be locked in a basement of a burning house, consider subscribing to our Patreon page. They got to hear the original episode, warts and all.

I’m going to do something now they used to do in Vietnam. It’s called making a head on a stick. I call it the Who Goes There Podcast  episode 134!

Ep 133: Se7en – WGT

We’re hoping into the way-back machine to the year 1995; a simpler time when Jim Carrey would use his butt to talk, and people listened to “alternative” music. While we were nerding out over News Radio and Mr. Show, the rest of the country was falling in love with Brad Pitt. In 1995, Brad Pitt teamed up with David Fincher and Morgan Freeman to make Se7en; a movie about bad things happening to bad people, because God.

Join us, we’re gonna find out what sin we would be killed for, and how we’d be done in; it’s gonna be a hoot! Plus, we’re testing out Jorge’s theory that “everything from the 90’s is amazing!”

If you ain’t gonna do me right, I might just do you in, ain’t that a sin? No, it’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 133!

Ep 132: mother! – WGT

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about how “divisive” Darren Aronofsky’s mother! is. Many people are calling mother! the best film of the year, while many others have deemed it “the worst movie of all time. Well, who cares what anyone else thinks, here’s what WE think! As if our sage words weren’t enough, Alia makes a special appearance, so there’s almost certainly talk about dicks at some point.

Also, we’re well aware that this episode is late. In case you didn’t know, hockey has started so there.

If this is as exciting as it gets, we’re in big trouble, dude. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 132!

Ep 131: IT (2017) – WGT

The time, is finally upon us. After what feels like an eternity of waiting, and the laughably bad adaptations of the Dark Tower, and The Mist tv series, we finally get what we’ve all been waiting for; we finally get…IT!

Join us, as we get swept away (see what I did there?) in trying to figure out if 2017’s IT did justice to the original. But wait, there’s more! Download now, and you’ll also get to hear who we think should play the kids as grown ups, how to milk a shark franchise, and what Chris thought of American Horror Story: Cult.

So there ya have it. Wax up your paper boat, put on your goulashes, and run headfirst into a new episode of awesomeness. Don’t worry, we don’t float down here. We’re too fat.

We recommend that until we can get to you, you stand on your heads, with your thumbs up; it’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 131!

Ep 130: Killing Ground

Buckle up, kiddos! This week, we’re going on a little trip down under; so grab your sunscreen and a baseball bat, because everything wants to kill you in Australia! We’re coming at you with another of our now infamous Patreon picks, and this go ’round the haomies wanted us to review 2017’s Killing Ground.

“Sam and Ian take off on what they believe will be a peaceful camping trip. Their break turns into a battle for survival when they discover a bloody toddler wandering around in the bush and find that an incredibly disturbing crime has been committed.”

Join us as we ponder some of life’s most perplexing questions. For example: is there really a difference between Australians and the folks from New Zealand? Are acts of violence and just as offensive if they happen offscreen, or is it worse because your mind connects the dots for you? If you spike an infant in the end zone, does that count as excessive celebration?

You haven’t changed, I see. You’ve always loved violence. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 130!

Ep 129: Jeepers Creepers – WGT

Last week on facebook, we posted an article about Jeepers Creepers 3 being almost finished and the response was divided to say the least. While some expressed excitement at the continuation of the franchise, others called for a boycott of the film due to a 1988 conviction of the films director Victor Salva. Salva was convicted of sexual misconduct with an underaged boy and served 15 months in prison. hnn9q2xi

With the release of Jeepers Creepers 3 on the horizon, the debate has resurfaced: should art be allowed to stand on it’s own, regardless of who created it, or should the director and his films be boycotted because of something done 30 years ago? Tune in as we argue about it, and try to decide whether or not Jeepers Creepers is even good enough to want to see.

You little turds are gonna learn you can’t run from the ice cream man! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 129!

Ep 128: Annabelle: Creation – WGT

We here at the Who Goes There Podcast love a good indie horror flick. This year alone we’ve covered some great independent films like Kuso, A Dark Song, and  We Are The Flesh. However, for every diamond-in-the-rough indie film, there must be a major motion picture release that is being regurgitated for the tenth time. This bring us to present day, and the newest pile of major studio vomit is Annabelle: Creation.

Everyone is talking about Annabelle: Creation. “Is it scary?” “Is it good?” “I bet it’s filled with jump scares.” “What is this stupid doll movie? Dolls aren’t scary!” Fear not my chubby little bunnies for we are here to answer all your questions and more! Why? Because we’re highly trained professionals, you sadists love when we watch films we’re probably going to hate, and we’re masochistic enough not to care,

Let it be known, sons and daughters, that Satan was an acid head. Drink from his cup; pledge yourselves. And together, we’ll all freak out. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 128!
